Members and subscribers of Callaway Electric Cooperative and Callabyte are giving back to local organizations through bill roundup efforts as part of an initiative implemented by the Callaway Electric Community Foundation.

Callaway Electric members and Callabyte subscribers can now choose to participate in Operation Roundup which provides grant opportunities to local non-profit groups, organizations and qualifying individuals throughout service areas.  The Callaway Electric Community Foundation Board has presented 8 organizations with $500 grants since the program’s kickoff in January 2021.  In addition, 10 scholarships of $500 each have been awarded to local students.

Through the program, members and subscribers can elect to round up their bill to the nearest dollar amount, allowing them to donate roughly $6 annually, with the option to contribute more.  For example, a $76.37 bill would round up $77.00, with the additional 63¢ going towards Operation Roundup.

Funds received through the program are managed by a volunteer board of Cooperative members and one Callabyte subscriber and allocated to variety of worthy causes throughout the service areas resulting from an application process.

“We are so proud to be offering this program to both our Callaway Electric members and Callabyte subscribers.  We are already seeing the tremendous impact the donations are making in our community and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for Operation Roundup,” Shelly Sconce, president of the Callaway Electric Community Foundation Board, stated.
