It was just eight short years ago that the hottest Christmas gift was the hoverboard and many adults were likely injured attempting to master something kids made look easy. The Apple Watch also hit stores, the Kansas City Royals clinched the World Series, and American Pharoah ended a 37-year drought by winning the Triple Crown. I can also vividly recall the excitement of the first sign up for Callabyte Technology. It has been a pleasure to be a part of the company’s growth as we now are celebrating more than 10,000 subscribers.

As I look back, we certainly faced some challenges. While we learned the ropes of a new business, we quickly found that what’s considered cutting edge technology today is often outdated within a couple of years. The technology world changes at a pace that most of us can’t quite keep up with. Think about all the devices connected to your internet today that did not have the capability a few years ago – thermostats, appliances, lights, security cameras, garage door openers, and many more. A lot of connected devices may not be essentials, but they have been embraced as part of daily life for many.

As Callabyte started, a 5 megabits per second internet speed was the norm in many rural areas and small cities. Today, Callabyte has started to offer 2 gigabit speed – or 2,000 megabits per second. Is there an end to speed? That likely depends on advances in technology and how society continues to embrace and utilize an ever-increasing supply of bandwith. One thing is certain, society has grown to expect high quality internet service – which fiber technology allows and Callabyte’s employees work hard to provide.

Our most valuable practice has been to set the bar high on customer service. While our product is sometimes the same, subscriber experience sets us apart. This starts with an easy sign up process and includes an efficient response time for a technician when needed. For almost 88 years Callaway Electric has been dedicated to restoring member’s electric service. When the lights go out, so do we – and we carry that mindset and dedication into Callabyte.
